Who are Pure Cremation – and how can we help?
Pure Cremation is one of the UK's most trusted funeral providers, and we can offer a pure cremation to anyone - you don't have to have a funeral plan with us. When someone chooses Pure Cremation, they don't need a funeral director, so you don't pay any funeral director fees.
We do everything ourselves. Our own private ambulance team collects your loved one, and they rest peacefully in our own care facilities the whole time. The cremation takes place at our own crematoria, set in peaceful parkland. The cremation is conducted to the highest standards of care and respect by our compassionate, award-winning team. Then we visit you personally, to return the ashes in a proper urn.
A pure cremation is a funeral without a ceremony at the crematorium. That means there's no rush to plan a service in the first few days. You can say goodbye in your own way, whenever and wherever feels right.
You don't need to have anything worked out before you call. Our caring team will listen, explain what happens next and take it from there.
You can call us for free, day and night, on 0800 160 18 81.
With Pure Cremation, families can arrange any send-off in Glasgow they wish
How our funeral arrangements work
Arranging a funeral with us is simple. Your very own Pure Care Companion makes the arrangements and keeps you informed at every step, so you never have to chase or repeat yourself.
- 1.When you call, we'll take a few details and answer any questions you have. You can call us at any time, day or night.
- 2.When we bring your loved one into our care, our own private ambulance team collects them from home, hospital, hospice or care home, anywhere in Glasgow and Clyde Valley. That includes Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (Govan Road), Glasgow Royal Infirmary (Castle Street), Stobhill Hospital (Balornock Road), Gartnavel General Hospital (Great Western Road) and New Victoria Hospital (Grange Road). In most cases, we can collect within a few hours of your call, once the medical paperwork is ready.
- 3.We look after your loved one as they rest peacefully in our own state-of-the-art facilities. Everyone has their own brand-new, solid wood coffin, usually cedar, and a unique ceramic disc that guarantees the identity of their ashes.
- 4.The cremation takes place at one of our own crematoria set in beautiful parkland. Before every cremation, our team bows to the person in their care.
- 5.When we bring your loved one home, one of our team visits you personally to hand you the ashes in a proper urn you can keep.
What's included, and what it costs
If you arrange a pure cremation today, it costs £1,595 and includes everything you need for a respectful cremation. It's less than our funeral plan price because there's no money to keep in trust for the future. Your payment goes straight to covering the cremation now.
That covers collection, care, the coffin, all cremation fees, the urn and the hand-delivery of the ashes. If we collect your loved one from home, there's an additional collection charge of £260.

Direct cremation and attended funeral options
A direct cremation is a simple funeral with no ceremony at the crematorium, so you don't have to organise a service within days of losing someone. With a pure cremation, you also get extra benefits no 'direct cremation' offers.
For instance, many direct cremations use chipboard coffins with veneer, whereas ours are solid wood, usually cedar. Direct cremations use temporary ashes containers made of cardboard, whereas we give everyone a proper urn they can keep (it can also be buried, as it's biodegradable). And most importantly, with us, families get their own dedicated Pure Care Companion - the same contact throughout, to keep them informed at every step and take away the stress and worry.
Your own send-off in Glasgow
Many people hold their own gathering after the cremation, when the time feels right. It could be at home, in a favourite pub, at a place of worship, or somewhere your loved one enjoyed, like Kelvingrove Park, the banks of the Clyde at Finnieston, Pollok Country Park, or the shores of Loch Lomond. There are no time limits or rules, so you can make it as personal as you like.
If you'd like to attend
If you'd like to be there, you can come to one of our own crematoria to hold your own short service. Prices start from £395 for one of our smaller rooms, for up to 12 people, or from £665 for a larger ceremonial hall, for up to 100 people. Our team will talk you through the options when you call.
Funeral costs and pricing
Every quarter, we update our Cost of Funerals Index, Britain's most comprehensive research into what funerals really cost. The latest figures show that the average cost of a traditional funeral in Scotland is £4,718. Funeral director fees make up 58% of that, around £2,713.
Arranging a pure cremation today, known as an at-need service, costs £1,595, wherever you are in Glasgow. This is our at-need price, for when someone has already died. It's lower than the price of our funeral plans because no money needs to be held in trust for the future. If we collect your loved one from a home address, there is an additional charge of £260. Because there are no funeral director fees, it costs thousands of pounds less than a traditional funeral.
You can compare costs near you with our free funeral cost calculator, or take a look at our Cost of Funerals Index.
