Why more people choose Pure
The company behind Britain's most popular funeral plan
Today, we have more choice about the kind of funeral we want, and how much we want to spend on it. And that, in part, is because of changes led by Pure Cremation.
Back in 2015, we saw that more and more people were shocked and worried by the rising costs of a traditional funeral.
They didn’t want the ‘extras’ they were forced to pay for like hearses or fancy coffins, and they didn’t want to pay sky-high fees from a local funeral director (government website MoneyHelper says up to half a funeral’s cost is the funeral director’s fees).
By making it possible for people to come direct to us, we could offer a more affordable kind of funeral without all those costs. That meant we could focus on the things that really mattered to our customers.
That means a state-of-the-art crematorium, a unique, guaranteed way to track the ashes, fantastic customer service and the most professional and dedicated staff.
Now, almost ten years later, Pure Cremation has grown to become the biggest provider of funeral plans in the whole of Britain, and we have more 5-star reviews from customers than any other funeral company.
So today, if someone dies, their family can call us anytime, 24/7, to arrange a pure cremation.
Or someone can buy a pure cremation funeral plan (for themselves or for someone else) so that their funeral is paid for in advance. And when the time comes, with just one call to us we can take care of everything.
Here are five things about Pure Cremation you might like to know:
1. We have our own crematorium.
We think that’s really important, because it means when someone is brought into our care, we look after them the entire time. A local funeral director is likely to use someone else’s crematorium and even Co-op Funeralcare doesn’t own any crematoria. We have a modern crematorium in beautiful grounds in Andover, and we welcome visitors.
2. We have a unique ceramic disc for each person.
When someone is in our care, they get a ceramic disc that is unique to them. This disc stays with them the whole time, including for the cremation. It survives the cremation and is included with the urn, guaranteeing the identity of their ashes.
3. Our funeral plan price is ‘all inclusive’.
Again, we think this is important. We don’t like the practice of some funeral plan companies who advertise a low price but don’t include everything – leaving loved ones to pay additional fees such as a larger coffin or return of ashes. We believe if someone buys a funeral plan, it is because they don’t want anyone else to have to pay for the funeral. So we include everything you need – there are no ‘hidden extras’.
4. We ensure your money with us is completely safe.
Our funeral plan trust is reinsured with Munich Re, the world’s biggest reinsurance company. This, we believe, creates even more safety and security than the approach many funeral plan companies use and is an extra guarantee for even greater peace of mind.
5. We are regulated.
Pure Cremation Funeral Planning Limited is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. And buying a funeral plan from us comes with Financial Services Compensation Scheme protection.

Questions about Pure Cremation
Where are we based?
Pure Cremation is a national company, and we will collect someone who has died from anywhere in mainland Britain.
Our head office is in Andover, Hampshire. Also in Andover in mature parkland is our state-of-the-art crematorium which has CCTV, a Ceremony Hall and the Oak Room for people who wish to visit or hold a service with us.
Our northern customer care centre is in Knutsford, our southern customer care centre is in West Way, Andover and our Scottish customer care centre is in East Kilbride. In addition, Pure has an office in Bristol, and through its owner Epiris, an office in London.
How much does a funeral cost?'
The cost of funeral plans in the UK varies based on plan type, service levels, and location.
A Pure Cremation plan is more affordable than a traditional funeral plan, and has no hidden costs. When you take out a plan at today's prices, you protect yourself and your family against rising funeral costs and inflation.
You can choose to pay us in one single payment or in monthly instalments. Once arranged, you do not need to pay anything else. With other providers, it is worth checking their small print, as they may have additional costs that mean you could pay more than their published prices depending on your circumstances.

Then, if you do take out a plan, carefully read the documentation we will post to you, and file it somewhere safe but easy to find. If you decide to cancel, the details are in that documentation. Then you can rest easy and get back to enjoying life.
Can I take out a funeral plan for someone else?
Yes – in fact many people take out a plan for their parents or partners. When buying a plan, you will need to say who the plan is for, and it is best to list yourself as the representative for that plan.
What’s the difference between over 50s life insurance and a funeral plan?
Over 50s life insurance is a whole-of-life policy that pays a cash lump sum to beneficiaries upon your death. Over 50s plans can never guarantee to cover the cost of a funeral.
A funeral plan, however, is an agreement with a funeral plan provider to fund and organise funeral expenses according to your wishes. They offer greater control and peace of mind regarding funeral arrangements, ensuring your life is celebrated the way you want.
What do our customers think?
We’ve more five-star reviews on Trustpilot, Reviews.io and Google than any other funeral plan and we’re really proud of the feedback we get from families who use our caring, considerate service.
