1. Introduction
The Pure Group of Companies (“Pure”) is committed to conducting business ethically and with integrity. We take a zero tolerance approach to modern slavery and human trafficking, and are dedicated to mitigating the potential risk of modern slavery and human trafficking in our business activities and within our supply chains.
We understand the significant risks associated with modern slavery, and we are dedicated to ensuring that our services, operational delivery, and as far as we are able, our supply chains, are free from such practices. We expect the same standards from all our suppliers and contractors.
The Pure Group of Companies refers to all entities within Pure Cremation Group Limited (“Pure Cremation, “we” or “us” or “our” or “Group”) and includes Pure Cremation Limited, Pure Cremation Funeral Planning Limited, and Pure Life Financial Services Limited.
Pure Cremation Funeral Planning Limited and Pure life Financial Services Limited are members of Pure Cremation and are authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and therefore subject to FCA rules and guidance.
2. The Pure Group of Companies Structure
The Pure Group operates within the Financial services sector, providing funeral plans, and Pure Cremation services, and has in the region of 360 employees.
To ensure compliance with the Modern Slavery Act, we have adopted proportionate measures appropriate to our operations, which are based entirely in the UK. Our workforce is recruited primarily from the local communities, with no overseas recruitment or complex supply chains.
We operate in a sector and location assessed as having a low risk of modern slavery and human trafficking. Whilst our risk exposure is low due to local recruitment and UK based activities, we recognise the importance of vigilance, and maintain ethical procurement standards, and work with suppliers who share our values.
The very ethos of Pure, is the belief in upholding respect and dignity, and the rights of every individual we engage with, whether that be with employees, suppliers or wider communities. Our Pure operations are rooted in the local UK community and we are proud to foster fair employment practices that promote transparency and equality.
All recruitment practices are carried out directly, and when required, via vetted UK based agencies. We ensure our key team members remain vigilant and aware of the risks and signs of modern slavery through internal communications and guidance. We remain committed to upholding human rights and ethical labour practices in all areas of our business.
3. Policies and Procedures
We have implemented policies and procedures to support to mitigate the risk of modern slavery, including –
- Code of Conduct – setting out our commitment to ethical business practices.
- Supplier Code of Conduct – ensuring our suppliers adhere to the same high professional standards.
- Whistleblowing Policy – providing a safe and confidential way our employees can report concerns.
4. Due Diligence
We conduct due diligence on all new suppliers and regularly review existing suppliers to ensure compliance with our professional standards. This includes, as appropriate -
- Risk Assessments
- Supplier audits
- Regular reviews and updates of our policies.
5. Training and Awareness
We provide training for our employees on the risk of modern slavery and human trafficking, ensuring they understand how to identify and report potential issues. We also work with our suppliers to raise awareness and promote best practices.
6. Monitoring and reporting
We monitor our services and operations, and supply chains, to identify and address any potential risks. We report any potential/incidents in our annual ESG reporting.
7. Commitment to Improve
We are committed to continuously improving our practices to mitigate the risk of modern slavery. We regularly review and update our policies and procedures to ensure they remain effective and relevant, and we will continue to maintain a zero tolerance approach to modern slavery and human trafficking.
