Making the call
When someone with a Pure Cremation funeral plan dies, their family can just give us a call, any time of the day or night, 365 days a year. They will get their own, dedicated care assistant who they can speak to and who knows their circumstances. The care assistant will explain what to expect, answer any questions, and give the family reassurance that everything
is being handled with care. Many families have told us that it is a comfort to hear the same familiar voice whenever they call.
Whether someone dies at home or in hospital, there is nothing extra for the family to pay, as everything you need is included in the plan.

Bringing someone into our care
As soon as we’re notified, we arrange for the person to be collected in one of our private ambulances. Our drivers carefully check identification, record any jewellery, and let our head office know when someone has been brought into our care.
All our ambulances are GPS-tracked, meaning we always know where they are and the routes they’ve taken. Each vehicle carries specialist equipment to keep transfers dignified and discreet. Every action is digitally logged, creating a complete record from collection to the return of ashes.
If you need help and guidance with paperwork, who to contact and what to do when someone dies, we have a free guide for that.
Did you know? Our private ambulance drivers will often ask about the person’s favourite music and play it for them on the journey.
Resting peacefully in our mortuary
When someone arrives at our modern, purpose-built facilities, they are placed in their own solid pine coffin and cared for with dignity. Our mortuary is secure, climate-controlled and designed to maintain the highest standards of safety and respect.
Our mortuary attendants carefully check identification and make sure all details are recorded accurately. Jewellery is removed with care, logged, and set aside safely. Throughout these checks, the team speaks gently to the person.
Did you know? Our mortuary team treats every individual as though they were a member of their own family. This can be something as simple as straightening a shirt collar, smoothing hair, or doing up someone’s buttons so that everyone can rest peacefully.
The cremation
The cremation takes place at one of our specialist crematoria in calm, carefully designed spaces where everything is handled with professionalism and care. There’s no service held at the crematorium itself, as many families prefer to arrange their own farewell wherever and whenever it feels right.
Our crematorium teams are highly trained and dedicated to caring for each person. Families sometimes ask us to play a favourite song, place a note or keepsake in the coffin, or read something aloud on their behalf, and our staff are always honoured to do so. Every person is bowed to before the cremation as a mark of respect.
Did you know? Each coffin carries a ceramic disc engraved with a unique identification number. It survives the process and is placed in the urn afterwards, offering reassurance and peace of mind. The urn comes with a choice of decorative wrap and is biodegradable, so it can be buried if wished.
Bringing them home
Once their ashes are safely placed in their urn, one of our ashes return specialists will be in touch with the family to arrange the best time to bring them home. Families are given a clear date, and the driver will also call on the day to let them know when they’re on their way.
On the journey, they often play the person’s favourite music and will be flexible around the family and their needs.
If families wish, they can also choose to have the ashes scattered in a garden of remembrance on our beautiful grounds.
Did you know? Our ashes return specialists are chosen not only for their professionalism but also for their compassion. They will check that families are ready to receive the ashes and may stay for a chat over a cup of tea. Their priority is making sure families feel supported in that moment.
Creating your own farewell
Whether before or after the ashes have been returned, family can remember and celebrate their loved one’s life how they choose. Many families arrange a personal gathering or celebration of life, free from the time pressures of a traditional funeral. It could be a meal at a favourite place, a gathering at home, a send-off somewhere meaningful to the person or a ceremony filled with music and memories.
A pure cremation offers flexibility. Families can say goodbye in a way that feels authentic to the person they are honouring, whether that means something simple and quiet or something joyful and filled with laughter.
If you want some inspiration, we have a free guide with helpful information and ideas for creating a unique send-off.
