We’ve more five-star reviews on Trustpilot, Reviews.io and Google than any other funeral plan and we’re really proud of the feedback we get from families who use our caring, considerate service.

How does our funeral cover compare?

Only our plan has the Pure Price Promise – which guarantees no hidden costs, making your funeral planning even easier. Some other companies add on charges later, so their prepaid funeral plan may not cover the whole cost and family might have to pay towards your funeral. (Funeral insurance policies may not cover the whole cost either, unlike our plan.)

With us, the money from your prepaid funeral plan is kept safe in an independent trust and reinsured with the world's largest reinsurer, so it's incredibly safe - we don't know any other funeral provider that offers this. Perhaps that's why we're Britain's Number 1 choice.

Important to know:

  • What's included: A pure cremation means we will collect the deceased, bring them into our care, perform the cremation and return the ashes to loved ones. Unlike a traditional funeral, there is no ceremony at the crematorium, so no celebrant or attendees and no hearse, limousine or flowers. See our Funeral Plan Summary.
  • Bestselling/Most popular / Most trusted / Britain’s favourite / Britain's Number 1: Pure Cremation is Britain's bestselling funeral plan according to research estimated by Mintel in 2025. A Pure Cremation funeral plan is a direct cremation funeral plan, so please read ‘What’s included’ above to ensure it will meet your needs.
  • More affordable / Save over £2,000: A pure cremation does not include a ceremony and so costs less than a traditional funeral. Please read ‘What’s included’ below to ensure it will meet your needs. A traditional funeral costs an average of £4,285 (SunLife Cost of Dying 2025).
  • If someone were to die at home without a plan and their loved ones were to arrange a pure cremation with us, it would cost £1,750.
  • If you pay in monthly instalments, your plan is at risk if you do not keep up with monthly payments.
  • Paying in monthly instalments means an instalment charge is added, so the total cost is higher than the single payment price.
  • If you pay in instalments and die before the qualifying period, the outstanding balance will need to be paid so that we can provide the funeral.
  • The total cost of your funeral plan includes a proportion of funds which is transferred to the trust when received. See details about the trust.
  • More 5* Reviews: Pure cremation has more 5* reviews on TrustPilot, Reviews.io and Google than any other funeral plan provider. See purecremation.co.uk/verify.
  • If someone dies in Scotland, the cremation will take place at Clyde Coast and Garnock Valley crematorium or The Hurlet crematorium, both are owned by our trusted partner Horizon.
  • On occasion we may prefer to offer a cremation in England and Wales at a trusted partner's crematorium too, but this will be only when agreed by the deceased's family.

Frequently asked questions

What’s the difference between a pure cremation and a traditional funeral?

There are two key differences between a pure cremation and a traditional funeral. Firstly, with a pure cremation we take care of everything – so there’s no funeral director and so no funeral director fees to pay (which can be as much as 60% of the cost for a traditional funeral). A pure cremation usually means no ceremony with family at the crematorium, saving you even more.

The second difference is that with a pure cremation, someone is in our care the whole time. With a traditional funeral, someone who has died might be collected by a funeral director, who may then use another company’s mortuary, and another company’s crematorium. You might not know which companies are involved or what their standards of care are.

But with Pure Cremation, we provide the whole service and the highest standards of care throughout. You can rest easy knowing who is looking after you – and because we’re performing the cremation ourselves, at our crematoria, we can often return ashes to loves ones (which we do personally and by hand, in an urn) more quickly than if someone uses a funeral director who will need to book a cremation.

We’ve created a side-by-side table so you can compare the similarities and differences between pure cremation and a traditional funeral.

What’s the difference between a pure cremation and a ‘direct cremation’?

Many funeral providers have started offering ‘direct cremations’. Like a pure cremation, they can save you over £2,000 compared to a traditional funeral, because they cut out the funeral director fees and crematorium ceremony cost.

But, in our opinion, they can cut corners too. Most ‘direct cremation’ providers use cheap, veneer coffins (we use solid pine, eco-friendly coffins).

‘Direct cremation’ providers also usually use a ‘temporary ashes container’ (ie a cardboard box) to return ashes. Whereas with a pure cremation, we give families the ashes in an urn they can keep forever.

Will you look after my family?

Yes. Everyone at Pure really cares about the service they provide. We work closely together, and we do everything we can to provide a respectful and dignified service for those we bring into our care and their loved ones.

Just look at the comments on reviews.io from the families and loved ones of our planholders and you’ll see how much we do to provide the best possible care and take away the worry at a difficult time.

What is the Pure Price Promise?

With a Pure plan, everything you need is included. Some other providers charge additional fees, or to return jewellery, for a bigger coffin, for collection from home or to return the ashes. Not Pure – we include everything that is needed for a respectful cremation, so there’s nothing more for you or your family to pay.

Is my money safe in a funeral plan?

Yes. Rest assured, with Pure Cremation, your money is safe. The total cost of your funeral plan includes a proportion of funds which is transferred to a Trust. The Trust is managed independently and is subject to Financial Conduct Authority solvency requirements. See details about the trust.

You also have the protection of the Financial Services Compensation Scheme which in the worst case could pay you what it would cost to buy the same plan now.

How much do funeral plans cost?

The cost of funeral plans in the UK varies based on plan type, service levels, and location.

A Pure Cremation plan is more affordable than a traditional funeral plan, and has no hidden costs. When you take out a plan at today's prices, you protect yourself and your family against rising funeral costs and inflation.

You can choose to pay us in one single payment or in monthly instalments. Once arranged, you do not need to pay anything else. With other providers, it is worth checking their small print, as they may have additional costs that mean you could pay more than their published prices depending on your circumstances.

How can I buy a Pure Cremation Funeral Plan?

First, get your FREE quote online or call our team on 0800 470 23 93 .

Then, if you do take out a plan, carefully read the documentation we will post to you, and file it somewhere safe but easy to find. If you decide to cancel, the details are in that documentation. Then you can rest easy and get back to enjoying life.

Can I take out a funeral plan for someone else?

Yes – in fact many people take out a plan for their parents or partners. When buying a plan, you will need to say who the plan is for, and it is best to list yourself as the representative for that plan.

What is the difference between a funeral plan and funeral insurance?

A funeral plan means you are buying a funeral in advance, and locking it in today's prices. It guarantees to provide a funeral. Funeral insurance, on the other hand, requires ongoing monthly payments and just provides a lump sum payout upon death, which may not fully cover the cost of a funeral. What’s more, the amount you pay in the funeral insurance premiums could be more than you get back in the lump sum.

What’s the difference between over 50s life insurance and a funeral plan?

Over 50s life insurance is a whole-of-life policy that pays a cash lump sum to beneficiaries upon your death. Over 50s plans can never guarantee to cover the cost of a funeral.

A funeral plan, however, is an agreement with a funeral plan provider to fund and organise funeral expenses according to your wishes. They offer greater control and peace of mind regarding funeral arrangements, ensuring your life is celebrated the way you want.

Should I use a funeral director?

Many people wonder ‘Maybe I should get a funeral plan from a local funeral director near me’. And that’s fine of course – but they are likely to include a funeral service, which limits what your family can do and adds cost for you. If you take out a plan with us – what’s known as a prepaid funeral plan – we perform the committal and return the ashes, or you can choose to have them scattered in our Garden of Remembrance at our Charlton Park crematorium. With Pure, you are choosing a national, trusted brand.
