Important information regarding Covid-19

This update is intended to give you a clear understanding of how the latest government statement affects the way in which we are able to serve you and your families. Naturally our priority is to maintain the health of all funeral workers while delivering the highest standards of care and compassion possible to the bereaved.

Over the coming weeks and months we expect the Pure Cremation trade service to become a lifeline for funeral directors seeking to achieve timely direct cremations for a greater number of families while dealing with reduced staff numbers.

We have made some adjustments to our working practices to ensure that we can continue to support funeral directors across the land during the challenging and worrying time. We do anticipate that more funeral directors will engage our service as we all work together in order to minimise delays in completing cremations and reduce the operational burden on funeral staff. This may mean slightly longer lead times for collections but we will continue to work hard to avoid or minimise this.

All transfers of coffins and ashes will be fulfilled by appointment only, so that each activity can be managed to the highest standards of safety and care. Please do not arrive at Charlton Park Crematorium unless you have an appointment as there may not be sufficient staff on hand to assist you.

We intend to keep all contact with our staff and facilities to the absolute minimum. I am sure you will understand that we will be unable to.

  1. Paperwork
    All paperwork should be scanned and emailed as per instructions on your booking confirmation forms – this should be with us a minimum of 48 hours before the cremation date. The Medical Referee already uses digital documentation in order to issue the Crem Form 10.

    Original documentation should be handed to our staff in a sealed envelope on the day of the transfer of care.
  2. Direct Cremations delivered to Pure Cremation via the side reception area:
    When delivering coffins to our premises please reverse up to the roller shutter door and ring the doorbell but remain outside the building. Our staff will attend and unload each coffin for you. Please do not try to assist them and only approach to hand them the original paperwork in a sealed envelope.

    If you have ashes to collect please let us know before you attend so that we can have these ready for safe hand over.
  3. Direct Cremation collections from your premises
    Our staff have been instructed to avoid entering your premises wherever possible when collecting coffins from trade clients – this is to protect you and them.

    Where possible, your staff will be responsible for loading the coffins into our vehicle. Please ensure that each coffin is ready for swift loading and has been wiped down prior to hand over. All staff should wear gloves.
  4. Covid-19 cases
    You must notify us of any cremation clients that are confirmed or suspected Covi-19 cases in order for us to take the appropriate action. Our staff will wear gloves to handle all coffins and when performing the necessary checks.
  5. Ashes delivery
    Ashes will be returned to trade clients as usual. Please call to arrange an appointment, but bear with us if this is taking longer than our usual speedy service.

Keeping things simple for you

You look after the family and the funeral arrangements, as usual, simply swapping the local cremation booking for one with us.

The cremation paperwork can be scanned and sent to us electronically for our medical referee to sign off.

Send the original paperwork with the deceased when they come to our client care facility and crematorium in Andover.

The coffin will be transferred to the crematorium and the cremation completed within 2-5 working days of arrival. We will always give you a specific cremation date to pass on to your clients.

State-of-the-art tracking systems ensure that the correct remains are returned to you, but we go further…Charlton Park Crematorium is the only venue in the UK to use a ceramic identifying disc to give every family tangible confirmation of the identity of the ashes.

Imprinted with the cremation number, the disc is placed on the coffin just before it enters the cremation chamber, recovered with the remains afterwards and presented within our unique ashes container. These attractive boxes are made from cellulose so they are both robust and 100% biodegradable, PLUS the sliding lid makes it easy to scatter or transfer ashes.

No frills required

Traditional ceremony with the coffin

You’ve already arranged funerals where the committal happens at the end of the service and the unaccompanied coffin travels to the crematorium. This more relaxed farewell liberates everyone from the crematorium diary and allows mourners to go straight to the wake…together.
